Respect on the Rec
The recreation ground is at the centre of village life providing
a wonderful green oasis for all to share and enjoy. The principles of those far sighted people
who created this unique facility continue to this day and we are duty bound to
promote a policy of mutual respect and cooperation amongst all those who use
the Rec.
The following guidelines aim to establish those behaviours
which are compatible with this policy of mutual respect. Some activities are best avoided as they present
an unacceptable hazard or nuisance for local people, others are incompatible
with the national guidelines for the management of sporting facilities.
Please help us promote ‘Respect on the Rec’ by observing with
these guidelines.
Archery
No person shall in the ground, except in connection with an
event organised by or held with the consent of the Committee, engage in the
sport of archery.
Camping
No person shall in the ground, without the consent of the Committee,
erect a tent or use any vehicle, including a caravan, or any other structure
for the purpose of camping.
Climbing
No person shall climb any wall or fence in or enclosing the
ground, or any tree, or any barrier, railing, post or other structure.
Dogs
No person shall, walk or exercise any dog in the ground, except
on the footpath/bridleway.
Field Sports
No person shall in the ground, except in connection with an
event organised by or held with the consent of the Committee, engage in the
sport of javelin or discus throwing or shot-putting.
Fires and barbecues
No person shall intentionally light a fire, or use a barbecue except in connection with an event organised by or held with the
consent of the Committee.
Golf
No person shall in the ground drive, chip or pitch a golf
ball.
Grazing
No person shall, without the consent of the Committee, turn
out or permit any animal to graze in the ground.
Horses
No person shall, ride a horse in the ground except on the
designated bridleway.
No person shall intentionally or negligently ride a horse to
the danger of any other person using the grounds.
Kites
No person shall in the ground fly any kite in such a manner
as to cause a danger, nuisance or annoyance to any other person in the ground. Kites
should not be flown where proximity to nearby overhead power lines will present an
unacceptable risk.
Metal detectors
No person shall on the land use any device designed or
adapted for detecting or locating any metal or mineral in the ground.
Missiles
No person shall in the ground, to the danger or annoyance of
any other person in the ground, throw or discharge any missile.
Noise
With the exception of any event organised by or held with
the consent of the Committee, no person shall, by operating any radio, MP3 player,
amplifier or similar instrument cause any noise which is so loud or so continuous
as to give reasonable cause for annoyance to persons in the ground or near neighbors.
Power-driven model
aircraft
"power-driven" means driven by the combustion of
petrol vapour or other combustible vapour or other combustible substances or by
one or more electric motors or by compressed gas;
No person shall in the ground release any power-driven model
aircraft for flight or control the flight of such an aircraft.
No person shall cause any power-driven model aircraft to
take off or land in the ground.
Removal of structures
No person shall, remove from or displace in the ground any
barrier, railing, post or seat, or any part of any structure or ornament, or
any implement provided for use in the laying out or maintenance of the ground.
Skateboarding and
roller skating
No person shall in the ground skate, slide or ride on
rollers, skateboards, wheels, mechanical contrivances or other equipment. except on the footpath/bridleway.
Vehicles
No person shall ride or drive a motor cycle, motor vehicle
or any other mechanically propelled vehicle in the grounds except on the designated
access pathway or in connection with an event organised by or held with the consent of the Committee.
No person shall, ride a cycle, except on the designated bridleway.
These rules shall not extend to mobility scooters.
